Preparations are now underway for the next phase of the project, with our principal contractor, G. F. Tomlinson, beginning site set-up works including the installation of safety hoardings around selected areas of the Priory Centre and parts of the main car park.
These works signal the start of a significant transformation that will introduce modern retail and leisure opportunities designed to attract new visitors and businesses to the centre.

A New Vision for the Priory Centre
The redevelopment will see part of the existing building reconfigured to create a refreshed and more dynamic environment for retailers, operators and visitors alike. Central to this vision is the introduction of a new family leisure facility, which will help establish the Priory Centre as a vibrant destination for both shopping and entertainment.
By combining retail with family-focused leisure, the redevelopment is designed to increase visitor dwell time, bring new footfall into the centre and create a stronger, more diverse tenant mix.
This exciting addition is expected to attract new and innovative brands, offering excellent opportunities for retailers and leisure operators looking to be part of a revitalised town centre destination.
Demolition and Construction Timeline
The next stage of the project begins with internal strip-out works in mid-February, followed by the structural demolition of a section of the centre from 2 March.
This phase includes the units located to the right-hand side of the Priory Centre entrance from Bridge Place, spanning from the former Café Neo unit through to the former Select unit.
Once demolition is complete, the construction phase is expected to begin in May 2026, bringing the redevelopment vision to life.
Investment in the Future of Worksop
Preparatory works have already been progressing behind the scenes for several months to enable the redevelopment. This includes the installation of bases for new electricity substations at the rear of the car park and infrastructure works carried out by utility providers including National Grid, Cadent, BT Group, and Severn Trent Water.
These improvements will support the centre’s future growth and ensure the site is fully equipped for new retail and leisure occupiers.
A Destination for New Retail and Leisure Opportunities
The redevelopment represents a significant opportunity to reshape the Priory Centre and further strengthen its role within the town centre.
With the introduction of a family leisure anchor and the creation of modern retail spaces, the centre is well positioned to attract exciting new tenants, broaden its offer and create a more engaging destination for visitors from across Worksop and the surrounding area.
Existing stores will continue to trade as normal, and the Priory Centre will remain an active part of the town centre throughout the redevelopment.
As work progresses, we look forward to sharing further updates on the transformation of the Priory Centre and the opportunities it will create for retailers, leisure operators and visitors alike.
